Bakersfield softball team falls, Gainesville wins in district semifinals

A few area high school softball teams continued district play in Missouri on Tuesday.

The semifinals of the Class 1, District 4 Tournament were held at Gainesville.
Bakersfield watched its season come to an end in the first game as they fell to Plato 11-1. The Lady Lions’ final record is 10-9.
Gainesville is one win away from the district title after the squeaked by Fordland 3-2. The host Lady Bulldogs improve to 14-7 on the year.

Forsyth was eliminated from the Class 2, District 5 Tournament at Hollister as they were edged out by Clever 6-5. The Lady Panthers’ season ends at 14-16.

Ava captured the championship of the Class 2, District 4 Tournament at Mountain Grove with a 2-1 victory over Thayer. The Lady Bears’ record is now 20-4, and their next game will be next Tuesday when they meet West County in the quarterfinal round of the Class 2 State Tournament.
