An inmate in the Baxter County Detention Center has picked up additional charges after he tried to escape when jailers brought his breakfast. Twenty-two-year-old Caide McCoy Curry of Clarkridge has added two felony charges to the previous seven charges, five of them felonies, he was being held on.
According to the probable cause affidavit, two jailers had gone to Curry’s isolation cell with his meal and when they opened the door, Curry tried to pry his way past the jailers. The jailers were fighting to get Curry back into the cell and close the door, but were unable to for fear of closing the heavy door on the inmate. One of the jailers deployed his Taser, but it was not successful in bringing Curry under control due to the close quarters the three were fighting in.
Curry eventually got past the two jailers and ran down the corridor and into the hub area under the dispatch tower. He then fled into the open booking area and attempted to lunge over the booking desk. At this point, the two jailers had caught up to Curry and managed to get handcuffs on one of his wrists. Two patrol deputies arrived and helped get Curry back into custody and he was taken back to his cell.
Curry was charged with second degree escape and impairing the operation of a vital public facility, both felonies. His bond was increased by $15,000 bringing it to $90,000.
Curry was originally arrested twice in early April. He was first arrested on three misdemeanor charges and then was arrested a second time less than 12 hours after being let out of jail.
The second arrest stemmed from multiple thefts in the Clarkridge area, including an ATV, along with Curry looking into a woman’s window. She chased him off with a shotgun.
In those cases, Curry is facing felony charges of residential burglary, two counts of breaking or entering, theft of property of more than $5,000 but less than $25,000 and theft of property less than $2,500. Misdemeanor charges include voyeurism and criminal trespass.
