Residents of Sharp County, along with others in Arkansas, who suffered damage from the severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding between April 2 and 22 may now apply for federal assistance through FEMA. Aid is available to help cover costs such as home repairs, temporary lodging, personal property loss, and other storm-related needs.

FEMA assistance is open to eligible homeowners and renters in Sharp, Clark, Clay, Craighead, Crittenden, Desha, Fulton, Hot Spring, Jackson, Miller, Ouachita, Pulaski, Randolph, Saline, St. Francis, and White counties. Residents who previously applied for FEMA aid after the March 14–15 storms and also sustained new losses in April can apply again.

Applicants should first file insurance claims, as FEMA cannot duplicate benefits. Applications can be submitted at www.DisasterAssistance.gov, through the FEMA App, or by calling 800-621-3362.

The U.S. Small Business Administration is also offering low-interest disaster loans to businesses, nonprofits, homeowners, and renters. More information is available at fema.gov/disaster/4873.
