An Ozark County man is facing multiple charges after he is alleged to have shot approximately 15 shots at a couple who were on a bridge. Thirty-five-year-old Luke Austin Seidel of Drury has nine charges, seven of the felonies, filed against him for the incident.
According to the probable cause affidavit from the Ozark County Sheriff’s office, the couple called 911 last Wednesday night to report they were on the Highway 95 bridge when someone came out of a house near the bridge and fired approximately 15 shots in their direction. They said the man told them he did not want them there. When they asked who he was, he said it did not matter and pointed his gun at them.
When deputies arrived, they noticed several spent shells in a pile on the porch of Seidel’s residence. They knocked several times before Seidel finally opened the door wearing just a pair of shorts with a rifle slung around his neck with a flashlight attached to the rifle. The rifle and flashlight were aimed towards the deputies. Seidel was very incoherent and slow to follow commands, but was eventually taken into custody. The deputies noted in the affidavit Seidel had the smell of alcohol on his breath.
Seidel refused to take a breathalyzer test, blood alcohol test and a gunshot residue test.
Seidel is facing two counts each of unlawful use of a weapon, shooting at a person; armed criminal action; and first degree harassment; and one count of unlawful use of a weapon, discharging a weapon while intoxicated, all felonies. He is also facing two misdemeanor counts of fourth degree assault.
Seidel is being held in the Ozark County Jail without bond pending his first court appearance scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
