A very active and rainy spring has led to the month of May entering into the top 7th wettest on record. As of Tuesday morning 10.51 inches of precipitation had fallen at KTLO, Classic Hits and the Boot the official weather reporting station for Mountain Home by the National Weather Service in North Little Rock. The new total beats out the previous top 7 spot from 1917 where 10.50 inches of rain fell. The highest rain total recorded in May in Mountain Home was 14.95 inches just five years ago in 2020.
April was also a record setting month with this year entering the top 3rd wettest on record with 14.73 inches. Heavy rains have been a persistent trend as well as severe weather with several tornado outbreaks area wide throughout the spring. Droughts in the plains out west are making conditions favorable in the south for heavier rains as weather patterns continue to fuel the area with Gulf moisture.
On and off rain chances continue through mid week with drier conditions forecasted starting Friday into the weekend as locals hope for a break and drying period heading into the month of June.
