The spillway releases at Norfork Dam were increased again Monday afternoon. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Little Rock District announced that as of 4:00 Monday, the spillway release combined with the hydropower is around 9,900 cubic feet per second.
This increase is over two and a half times the output of what was coming through the spillway gates. The last update from the corps was Saturday when the release was 3,843 cubic feet per second.
At one point last week, the output was as high as 12,000 cubic feet per second.
The top of the flood pool at Lake Norfork is 580 feet. As of late Monday afternoon, the level is at 578.54. Last week it got as high as 579.61 feet.
The corps started the spillway releases last week to evacuate flood storage from Lake Norfork due to the recent rainfall.
