Elsie “Laverne” Cantrell, 82, of Mountain Home passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025, in Mountain Home. She was born October 31, 1942, in Mountain Home to William Franklin Cox and Ruth Mae (White) Cox. She was a member of Harmony Freewill Baptist Church. Laverne was the hub of her family, she was an amazing cook, especially her goulash, chicken and dumplings and brownies. Those are some of the most requested. She had a great personality, sweet, funny and everyone just loved her. Laverne is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmie Ray Cantrell; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Donna Cantrell; a brother, Dale Cox; a sister, Louise Denny and a granddaughter, Caitlin Sinor.
Laverne is survived by three sons, David (Sheri) Cantrell, Donnie (Dana) Cantrell, Darrell (Tamara) Cantrell; two daughters, Diana (Tony) Hickman and Deborah (Curtis) Sinor; two brothers, Gene (Jewel) Cox and Leroy (Joyce) Cox; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the Conner Family Funeral Home & Cremation Center. A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 6, 2025, at the Quality Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Conner Family Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
