
With the new Baxter County Health Department nearing completion, Baxter County Judge Kevin Litty is setting his sights on developing another site to house county government offices.
The plan is to see the development of a multi functional center that could house offices for elected officials as well as serve as a new voting center. A possible site would be the former location of the old First Baptist Church off of the Mountain Home Square.
Judge Litty says a new location would make voting and county services more accessible.

Improving public property has been a goal for Judge Litty since he took office and he says that a new center would increase efficiency and safety for the citizens who would use it.

The county owns the properties on the square that house the assessor and tax collectors offices and they could be sold or rented to also offset the cost. The proposal is in the early planning stages as the Judge and county officials explore the idea of improving access to county services.
