An Ozark County man was arrested in Boone County last Thursday for fighting with a female while he was driving and not letting her out of the car. Fifty-five-year-old Robert Glenn Davidson of Gainesville is facing eleven charges for the incident, three of them felonies.

According to the probable cause affidavit from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, an off duty Branson police officer contacted 911 to report he was behind a rolling domestic on U.S. Highway 65. The vehicle pulled over and the off duty officer stopped and heard the woman screaming for help. The driver then got back in the vehicle and headed towards Harrison.

A short time later, a Harrison officer made a traffic stop on the vehicle and detained Davidson. A deputy with the sheriff’s office talked to the victim who said the two were arguing about money. She said she had tried to get out of the car because Davidson had been hitting her. She also said both of them had been drinking. The deputy noticed bruising and the victim showed him where Davidson had broken one of her teeth when he hit her in the jaw.

Another deputy put Davidson through a field sobriety test which showed numerous clues of impairment. He was given a BAC test at the sheriff’s office which showed his blood alcohol content was .13, above the legal limit of .08.

The off duty officer gave a statement saying when he arrived the car was parked on the side of the road and pulled back on to the roadway with the passenger door open. The car pulled back onto the shoulder of Highway 65 and Davidson started hitting the victim. Davidson then got out of the vehicle, went to the passenger side and started hitting her again. That’s when the off duty officer was able to get out and identify himself and law enforcement. Davidson jumped back in his car and fled towards Harrison at speeds up to 90 miles-per-hour.

A search of the car uncovered marijuana Davidson had purchased at a dispensary, a glass smoking device with burnt residue in it, THC gummies, a THC vape and numerous open alcohol containers.

Davidson is facing felony charges of second degree domestic battery, first degree false imprisonment and aggravated assault on family or household member along with misdemeanor charges of DWI, open container, fleeing, possession of a schedule VI controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended license, expired tags and public intoxication. He is free after posting $25,000 bond.
