Three Arkansas Razorbacks claimed national titles last weekend at the Jamaican National Championships, led by Tyrice Taylors dramatic win in the mens 800 meters.
Taylor surged from fourth to first in the final 70 meters to win in 1:45.26, edging St. Vincents Handal Roban. The time was just shy of Taylors personal best of 1:45.23 and ranks as the fourth-fastest in Jamaican history.
Arkansas alums Carey McLeod and Romaine Beckford also earned titles. McLeod won the long jump with a best of 26-9.25 (8.16 meters), while Beckford cleared 7-4.5 (2.25 meters) to win the high jump.
All three athletes have met qualifying standards for the 2025 World Athletics Championships, set for September in Tokyo.
Incoming Razorback Jerome Campbell placed sixth in the 110-meter hurdles after advancing to the final with a 13.33-second semifinal time.
