A Fulton county man was arrested for falsely reporting someone had stabbed him and shooting a house. The Salem man, 43-year-old Phillip Hollis, is facing three charges for the July 4 incident, including two felonies.

According to the probable cause affidavit from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy and a Salem Police Officer responded shortly after 4:00 that morning after Hollis reported he had been stabbed. Law enforcement indicated Hollis had bloodshot eyes and smelled of intoxicants. Hollis told them he was checking the mail and a man approached him and cut him with a knife. The deputy noted Hollis had a wound on his hand consistent with being cut with a knife. Law enforcement searched the area but did not find anyone matching the description given by Hollis.

About two hours later, Hollis started calling 911 again and hanging up each time. The deputy returned and Hollis told him he and a female at the house had gotten into an argument and she was the one who had stabbed him. Hollis was taken into custody at that point.

The deputy interviewed the female who said it was Hollis who had cut his own hand. She said he also shot a hole in her house and a young child was inside when he did it.

Hollis is facing felony charges of aggravated assault and filing a false report with a law enforcement agency along with a misdemeanor count of second degree endangering the welfare of a minor. He is free after posting $5,000 bond.
