Portions of Mountain Home received quite the deluge of rain Monday afternoon, with enough falling at KTLO to break a 100 year daily rainfall record.

3.1 inches of rain fell since 7 Monday morning at KTLO, Classic Hits and the Boot, the official reporting station for the National Weather Service in Mountain Home, breaking the previous record set on July 14, 1925 of 2 inches.

Due to the saturated ground and continued threat of heavy rain, the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the area until 1 Tuesday afternoon. Forecasters warn that additional rainfall could lead to flash flooding in low-lying or poorly drained areas.

The downpour is part of an unusually wet summer in Mountain Home. Recent weather patterns have already delivered significant precipitation, including a Memorial Day weekend total of 2.76 inches and a May total of over 8 inches.

Local authorities urge residents to remain cautious and avoid driving through flooded roadways. For the latest updates, tune in to KTLO, Classic Hits and the Boot.
