A runaway dog, anger, arguments, a shotgun and alcohol all combined to bring a Henderson woman to Baxter County Circuit Court/Criminal Division Monday.

Thirty-one-year-old Shayla Blocker pled guilty to domestic battery and terroristic threatening. An initial charge of aggravated assault was dismissed by the state. Blocker was sentenced to four years probation and was ordered no contact with the victim.

Her arrest came April 17 last year when Baxter County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a residence along County Road 142 about 10:30 p.m.

The deputies were told that Blocker and her boyfriend had gone fishing to celebrate her 30th birthday and that they were drinking during the trip.

The boyfriend described Blocker as a heavy drinker. He said when arguments flared up, he normally “just sits quietly and waits for the storm to pass.”

The responding deputies reported Blocker was “highly intoxicated” when they contacted her. She said she mainly wanted the officers there so she could leave the residence in a vehicle without interference from her boyfriend.

The deputies informed Blocker she was too drunk to drive.

When the argument first broke out, Blocker was reported to have become distraught that their dog had run away from the house “because the dog did not like the loud arguments that broke out at the residence.”

Blocker was reported to have screamed at her boyfriend and chastised him for not being concerned about the pet.

She is alleged to have made a number of threats to kill her boyfriend during the argument.

One of the comments was worded oddly. Blocker is alleged to have told the boyfriend, “I hope you die the most horrible death you ever experienced.”

Blocker is alleged to have struck the boyfriend across the face. At one point, she went into the house threatening to get a gun and “blow your head off.”

At one point, Blocker is reported to have pointed a shotgun at the victim and pulled the trigger, but the gun did not fire because Blocker told investigators she did not know how to disengage the safety.

The victim is reported to have recorded the incident on his cellphone, according to investigators.

Blocker has been free on $25,000 bond.
