A Mountain Home area man has been arrested after stealing a car from a residence on U.S. Highway 62 east, crashing it on Jordan Road and then applying for a job the next day at a business owned by the man who called 911 about the accident who recognized him and called the sheriff’s office. Facing seven charges for the incident is 35-year-old Timothy Allan Clark.

According to the incident report from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy responded the accident a little after 9:00 last Tuesday morning and discovered the vehicle in the ditch, but no one was around it. A female walking her dog told the deputy she saw two men around the vehicle after the accident, but she did not see where they went.

The deputy also made contact with the man who called 911 about the accident who checked on one man who was sitting in the car. He said he was alright and waiting on a tow truck, so the man called the accident in to 911.

Later that day, the vehicle’s owner called to report his car stolen. He had last seen it the night before in the driveway, but when he went out the next morning it was gone. He reported he had a .22 rifle in the backseat. The deputy noted there was not a rifle in the car when he did an inventory after the accident.

The next day, the owner of Jordan Marina, the same man who had called 911 about the accident, called the sheriff’s office to report the man who was involved in the accident the day before was at his business and had filled out an application for employment. A deputy went to the marina and detained the man, who was Clark, and he was brought in for questioning.

Clark admitted to stealing the car and said he gave the gun to someone for some gas money and transportation. He refused to tell investigators the location of the firearm or who he gave it to. He also admitted to being at the scene of the accident.

Clark is facing felony charges of motor vehicle theft, theft of property, possession of firearms by certain persons (meaning he is a convicted felon), three counts of vandalism and driving while his license is suspended for DWI. He is also being held on a probation violation. His bond is set at $25,000.

Clark has six felony arrests in Arkansas dating back to 2010, all of them in Baxter County. His charges have included residential burglary, breaking or entering, theft of property, third degree escape, fleeing on foot, public intoxication, delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled counterfeit substance without a prescription, drug fraud, impairing the operation of a vital public facility – violent behavior, obstructing governmental operations and contempt of court.
