The Mountain Home and Twin Lakes area are under a heat advisory this week as temperatures rise into the upper 90s, with heat index values exceeding 105 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
The advisory, which remains in effect through the day Wednesday, warns of increased health risks associated with prolonged exposure and physical activity in the extreme heat.

Local health officials are urging residents to take precautions, including staying indoors during peak afternoon hours, drinking plenty of water, and avoiding strenuous outdoor activities.
Heat-related illnesses, such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke, can develop quickly. Symptoms may include dizziness, nausea, rapid pulse, confusion, and unconsciousness. Anyone experiencing these symptoms should seek immediate medical attention.
