Discount grocery retailer Aldi is officially coming to Mountain Home, with plans to build its first local store on the site of the former El Chico restaurant.

The long-rumored development was confirmed this week, marking a significant addition to the city’s retail landscape. The store will be located along U.S. Highway 62/412 in the El Chico’s parking lot, a central and high-traffic area for local shoppers.

KTLO, Classic Hits and the Boot News met with President/CEO of the North Central Arkansas Economic Alliance, Dani Pugsley, who confirmed that the long-anticipated project is moving forward after delays in the planning and permitting process.

The retailer is known for its low prices, efficient store layout, and private-label products. Its arrival brings a new option for grocery shopping in the Twin Lakes Area.

Demolition of the existing structure and site preparation are expected to begin soon, with an opening date to be announced in the coming months.

The company has not released further details about the store’s size or hiring plans, but updates are expected as construction progresses.
