Arkansas taxpayers affected by this spring’s natural disasters have been granted additional time to file their state income tax returns, the state Department of Finance and Administration announced Tuesday.

Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders previously issued Executive Orders 25-08 and 25-09 extending the original April 15, 2025, deadline to July 31 for residents in all 75 counties following widespread storm damage.

Now, as many Arkansans continue recovering from the disasters, the deadline has been extended again – this time to Dec. 3, 2025 – aligning with a recent IRS decision to postpone federal tax deadlines for Arkansas storm victims until Nov. 3.

Under Arkansas law, when the IRS grants a federal extension due to a disaster, state taxpayers receive an additional month to file. The extended deadline applies to 2024 income tax returns for individuals, corporations, pass-through entities, partnerships, fiduciaries, estates and composite returns.

Taxpayers who file by the Dec. 3 deadline will not be penalized. However, estimated tax payments are still due on their original dates and must be paid on time to avoid penalties and interest.

To qualify for the extension, taxpayers must either attach a copy of the IRS disaster notice (AR-2025-03) to their return or check the federal extension box. The IRS notice is available at irs.gov.
