A long standing part of the Mountain Home skyline will be no more in the coming weeks. The old feed mill on Wade St. is being dismantled and the property cleared for future developments.
The facility, which has stood for nearly 6 decades, was last operated by Butterball and closed following the opening of a new mill outside of Yellville in 2020. Crooked Creek Demolition based in North Central Arkansas has purchased the property and began the process of scrapping the mill a couple of weeks ago.
Work has already begun to dismantle portions of the facility.
Company owner and Flippin graduate, Robert Cox says the plan to take down the structure first raised in 1966 was proposed by Butterball.

The property owners currently plan to keep a 7,000 square foot warehouse on the 5 acre property. Cox says the future of the site is unclear but some ideas are being floated as possibilities.

Due to the heavy industrial nature of the former mill precautions for environmental safety have been taken.

Cox says it will take the next couple of weeks to bring down the structure and they will continue to work the site in the coming months.
