
More facility updates are on the horizon as Yellville-Summit Public Schools looks to another successful year serving students in Marion County.
Wednesday saw the return of students to classes and Superintendent Wes Henderson says the faculty have been excited for the start of the year.

A new wing of the high school was opened last year that created extra space and the opportunity to revitalize an old auditorium that has been closed for decades.

Henderson says they began an implementation of a ban on cell phone use last year and does not foresee any trouble enforcing the new state mandated bell to bell no cell policy this school year.

Yellville-Summit is entering it’s seventh year as a Provision 2 school where breakfast and lunch is provided free of cost to all students and grade levels. A mid morning breakfast option is just one of the programs at the school to keep hungry students full and focused.

Enrollment last week stood at 958 and Henderson says they are down a few students this year with about 12 down in the Kindergarten from this time last year but that he anticipates those figures to flucuate as the new year settles in.
