Bakersfield teenager Max Bean is being recognized at the state level for using his drone to help locate a missing woman earlier this month – an act that ultimately saved her life.
The Missouri Attorney General’s Office recently presented Bean with the Attorney General Honors Award, which recognizes extraordinary Missourians who go above and beyond to make a positive impact in their communities.
On Sunday, Aug. 3, Robin Mullins was reported missing that morning, prompting an extensive search by family members, volunteer firefighters, law enforcement officers, a K9 unit, and other community volunteers. After more than 10 hours without success, Max joined the search and deployed his drone over fields and wooded areas near Bakersfield.
His efforts paid off when he spotted Mullins lying under a cluster of trees in a nearby field. Thanks to his quick action, rescuers were able to reach her quickly and bring her to safety.
The Attorney General’s Office praised Bean for his courage and initiative, saying his actions reflected “the values of service and compassion that strengthen Missouri communities.”
“This award highlights the steadfast need we have for each other,” the office said in a statement. “We are proud to honor Max Bean for his quick thinking, dedication, and willingness to help in a time of urgent need.”
Max’s story has resonated throughout Ozark County, serving as a reminder of the strength of small-town communities-and how the efforts of one individual can make the difference between life and death.
