Scam awareness tips shared during KTLO live call-in

In response to a surge in scams targeting Baxter County residents, KTLO hosted Sheriff John Montgomery Thursday morning for a live call-in program aimed at educating the public on how to avoid common scams.

Broadcast on KTLO FM 97.9 and streamed online at KTLO.com beginning at 9:05, the program encouraged listeners to dial in or submit questions via email. The call-in drew strong community interest.

During the broadcast, Sheriff Montgomery outlined numerous red flags residents should watch for and gave advice on what to do if someone thinks they are being scammed.

By the end of the program, residents had gained practical strategies to identify and avoid scammers – from spoofed numbers to impersonated institutions.

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office shared a list of automatic triggers to know someone if someone is being scammed.
