
The Baxter County Quorum Court met Tuesday for a 36-minute session that included a presentation on local aviation and the approval of several ordinances and resolutions.
Taylor Carmichael and Gerald Gage, representing the local aviation community and airport users, gave a presentation to the court.
Justices of the peace approved Ordinance 2025-41, appropriating $23,512.46 in July fees and reimbursements to the sheriff’s office budget, and Ordinance 2025-42, appropriating $2,508.50 from the county general fund to juvenile services. Ordinance 2025-43, amending a 2022 measure to establish an employee liability fund and directing the county treasurer to replenish it as needed, also passed.
Other approved measures included Ordinance 2025-44, creating an escheated estate trust fund; Ordinance 2025-45, creating a coroner’s building fund and annex building fund; and Ordinance 2025-46, reappropriating $75,000 from the county general fund to the coroner’s building fund.
The court also approved Resolution 2025-23, granting a conservation easement to the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program for the Casey House at 1500 Arena Drive, and Resolution 2025-24, confirming the appointment of William Hardakiss by the county judge to the Midway Fire Protection Board of Commissioners.
