MSS founder Elesha Granniss drops off delivery to MHHS
Girls in three area schools are starting the new year knowing personal care products will be available when they need them.
The Mountain Home chapter of Military Service Sisters is continuing its “Dignity for Little Sisters” program, which supplies hygiene products to students at Mountain Home, Cotter and Flippin high schools. The items are placed in private locations so students can take what they need without asking.
Guidance counselors say the effort helps students who may not have easy access to these supplies at home. Cotter High School counselor Kathleen Holder said the program has been well-received and is now helping even younger students on campus.
The program began in 2022 after members of the women veterans’ group learned that a local student had once asked for hygiene products as a Christmas gift. “We felt that no student should have to ask for personal care products as a gift,” said group founder Elesha Granniss.
The first basket of supplies was delivered just before Thanksgiving that year. Since then, the program has expanded to three schools, with volunteers and supporters keeping shelves stocked through regular donations.
Military Service Sisters is made up of women who have served in the armed forces and want to support their communities. The group meets monthly in Mountain Home. For more information call 920-980-8054.
