
Things were looking bleak for the 9th grade Bombers as they saw themselves trailing 23-6 against with 3 minutes remaining against the Farmington Cardinals Thursday night at Bomber Stadium. Mountain Home could not get anything rolling as they gave up an early touchdown and two point conversion in the first half. Mountain Home would respond with a score of their own but would miss the two point conversion to trail 8-6. Heading into the halftime break Mountain Home was trailing 15-6 and then trailing 23-6 with time running out in the 4th quarter. Mountain Home would score on a Mason Reppond scamper to trim the lead to 23-10. Mountain Home would then recover an onside kick, and immediately score on a touchdown pass from Conner Gentry to Kody Shrable to trim the lead down to 23-20. Mountain Home’s Grady Sheehan would kick another perfect onside kick that was recovered by the Bombers. Mountain Home would see the play of the night as Paxton Pool made a one-handed touchdown reception with just under a minute remaining, to put Mountain Home up 27-23. Farmington would have one last gasp, but on 4th down the Cardinals would throw a game sealing interception to cap off a wild 27-23 victory for the Bombers.
The Junior Bombers 7th grade football team traveled to Yellville-Summit on Tuesday night and came away with a 28-6 win over the Panthers.
Mountain Home opened the scoring with a 70-yard drive capped by quarterback Landrey Dunn finding Oakley Blagg on a play-action pass. Dunn connected with Leman Tucker for the two-point conversion and an 8-0 lead. Yellville-Summit answered with a 70-yard run, but the extra point failed, leaving the score 8-6.
On the next possession, Dunn executed a triple option and pitched to Asher Hicks for a 70-yard touchdown run. Hicks added the two-point conversion for a 16-6 advantage. Shortly after, Bomber linebacker Markus Edmonds intercepted a pass to set up the next score. Ethan Forbus recovered a bad snap and ran it in for a touchdown to push the lead to 22-6.
In the second half, Dunn connected with Wyatt Foret on a 25-yard touchdown pass to seal the 28-6 victory.
The Junior Bombers return to action Monday at Bomber Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
