Mother’s Day lottery ticket leads Jonesboro couple to $50,000 win

A Mother’s Day stop at a gas station turned into a big payday for a Jonesboro couple after winning $50,000 on an Arkansas instant lottery ticket.

According to the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery, Matthew O. and his wife claimed the $50,000 prize on May 11 after playing the $50,000 Stacked instant game.

The winning $20 ticket was purchased at Maverik #5127.

Lottery officials said the couple stopped at the gas station with their children after eating at a local restaurant on Mother’s Day. While the children picked out snacks and candy, Matthew’s wife chose the winning scratch-off ticket.

Matthew said his wife scratched the ticket while he drove home before suddenly becoming emotional after realizing she had won a top prize.

The couple initially believed the ticket was worth $30,000 before discovering the actual prize amount was $50,000.

Matthew said family members and coworkers were skeptical about the win until he shared a video of the ticket.
