An 8-year-old girl was among two juveniles injured in a shooting Wednesday at a Hot Springs apartment complex, according to the Hot Springs Police Department.

The child’s mother, Jalisa Lock, said her daughter was outside playing with friends when two groups began arguing near the apartment complex.

Lock said one of the groups then opened fire on the other, with the children caught in the middle of the gunfire.

According to Lock, her daughter was initially believed to have suffered a graze wound before doctors discovered a bullet lodged in her arm after X-rays were performed at National Park Hospital.

Lock also said another juvenile was struck twice in the hip and remains hospitalized while doctors work to determine if she will be able to walk normally.

Authorities have not released information on any suspects, and the investigation remains ongoing.
