
Cotter secured their first state tournament win in program history with a hard-fought 4-3 win over McCrory on Thursday at Palestine-Wheatley Senior High School, riding a dominant outing in the circle from Myah McNutt.McNutt was outstanding from start to finish, striking out 14 batters while scattering seven hits and allowing just three runs over seven innings. She also issued only one walk to keep McCrory’s offense in check late.McCrory struck first in the fourth inning when Morgan Stuckey delivered an RBI single to put the Lady Jags on the board.
Cotter responded in the bottom half of the frame, reclaiming the lead with a flurry of action. KTLO Sports spoke with Head Coach Jarod Jefferson, who recaps the inning.

McCrory’s Hadley Rushing took the loss after going five innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits with four strikeouts and four walks.
At the plate for Cotter, McNutt, Perkey, Riley Brotherton, Lipe, and Avery Rice each recorded a hit. Perkey and Lipe each drove in a run, while Cotter also turned a double play defensively.
For McCrory, HalliAnn Glover and Annaliece Hite each finished with two hits, while Rushing added an RBI in the losing effort.
With the win, Cotter advances to face Woodlawn on Friday at 3 in the state tournament.
