Cyclists from across the region are expected in Marion County this weekend for the Gravelocalypse gravel cycling event in Yellville.

The event is scheduled for Saturday morning beginning at 8 at the Yellville City Park.

Riders will travel through portions of Marion County featuring views of the Buffalo River Valley and Ozark Mountains along with natural springs, creek crossings and steep hills.

Gravelocalypse is hosted by Trail Team of North Central Arkansas, also known as TTONCA, a nonprofit organization focused on trail development and maintenance throughout the region.

Officials said all proceeds from the event will go toward trail work projects in North Central Arkansas.

The event’s race director is Shannon Baker, a longtime area resident and cycling advocate.

TTONCA recently completed an expansion of the Oak Ridge Mountain Bike Trails at Bull Shoals-White River State Park.

Marion County officials are also asking residents not to tamper with or remove event signs placed throughout the area. Officials noted this is the first year for the event in Marion County and said many participants traveling to the area may be unfamiliar with local roads.

Event signs are expected to be removed following the completion of Saturday’s activities.
