The hard work of Mountain Home students and the generosity of local business, organizations and families saw a record $480,785 in scholarships given out to graduating seniors for 2026.
The nearly three hour awards ceremony on Tuesday evening saw over 100 hundred individual scholarships to over 70 students. This years surpassed last year total of $381,761 by nearly $100,000. Mountain Home Public Schools reports that over the last four years scholarships awarded has increased nearly $200,000.
According to information from MHPS this year’s MMHS leading scholarship recipients were Aiden Garner, who received a total of $11,000 in awards. Garner earned the W. H. Thompson Educational Scholarship worth $8,500, along with the Master Chief Howe Trade Scholarship for $500 and the North Central Arkansas Home Builders Association Building Trades Scholarship for $1,000 as well as others.
Blake Vacco received over $10,000 in scholarships, including the Arkansas State Police Foundation Spouses’ Auxiliary Randy and Betty Hedge Scholarship valued at $8,000, the Arkansas State Police Association Scholarship for $1,000 and others.
Hannah Dooley received a combined $4,000 in scholarships, earning awards from Arkansas 4-H Livestock, Baxter County 4-H, the Baxter County Cattleman’s Association, the Arkansas Association of Conservation Districts Dave Ferguson Scholarship, and the Baxter County Conservation District.
Nathan Yarborough received $3,000 through the St. Peter the Fisherman Senior Scholarship.
Dayton Davis received $2,980 in awards, receiving scholarships from the Almyra A. Lippold Scholarship fund, Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership Scholarship, Mountain Home Kiwanis Club, and Women of the Moose.
