Gassville city council approves employee wage increase, discusses new welcome sign

The Gassville City Council approved a wage adjustment for full-time city employees during its regular meeting Tuesday evening.The measure passed unanimously and will take effect with the first payroll in June.

Council members also approved the second reading of Ordinance 2026-02, which would add cybersecurity, internet and artificial intelligence policies to the city’s personnel handbook.

In new business, the council discussed a possible welcome sign partnership with A 2 Z Signs, but the item was tabled while the city waits for additional sketch drawings.

Council members also discussed a possible trash rate increase and a contract for services. Further discussions are being planned before any action is taken.

In other reports, the city’s water tower painting project remains in the preliminary stages. Mayor Jeff Braim said rain had hampered progress this week. Mark Khapshandy also gave a report on the youth center.

The council voted to move its June meeting date due to the Municipal League Convention. The next regular meeting is now scheduled for June 9 at 6 p.m.

Tuesday’s meeting lasted about one hour and 35 minutes, with all council members present.
