The Izard County School District football program has named Coach Carr Hill as its new head football coach ahead of the move to eight-man football this season.

Hill is a Highland graduate who played college football at Lyon College and has previously coached at Highland, Piggott and Izard County.

Hill was promoted after serving as offensive coordinator last season. Hill was a member of the original 2022 8-Man state championship staff at Izard County, as well as the 2023 state semifinal staff. KTLO Sports spoke with Coach Hill, who was able to give some of his background.

Izard County will transition from 11-man football to eight-man football this season following the departure of former head coach Chase Brody to Farmington.

Hill says contrary to popular belief, eight-man is not that much different than 11-man football. For the offseason, focus will remain similar to most programs with an emphasis on strength, conditioning and keeping players engaged throughout the summer.

Hill said he is excited to begin preparing the Cougars for the upcoming season.
