Two teams of Lutheran Church Charities K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry (LCC9) Comfort Dogs will be in Mountain Home from Friday through Sunday.

The dogs will appear at the Run for Tomorrow 5K Run for Suicide Awareness on Saturday, then visit Sycamore Springs Senior Living afterward to meet with residents and community members. They will also visit with National Guardsmen at the Mountain Home Armory.

On Sunday, the dogs will be at Redeemer Lutheran Church for Sunday School, a presentation and to meet parishioners at both services.

Launched in 2008, the Lutheran Church Charities K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry is a national human-care ministry that uses the calming nature of purebred Golden Retrievers to provide comfort and open doors for conversation about faith. The dogs are trained to interact with people of all ages who are suffering or in need.

Comfort dogs are permanently placed with churches, schools and other ministries involved in Christian human care, with full training for handlers and ongoing support provided. The dogs live in the homes of their assigned caregivers and take part in scheduled and special events.
