Razorbacks fall to fifth after second round of NCAA Regional

The sixth-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks men’s golf slipped to fifth place after the second round of the NCAA Corvallis Regional Tuesday in Oregon.

Arkansas shot a 1-over-par 285 during round two and sits at 8-under-par 560 through 36 holes at Trysting Tree Golf Club.

John Daly II led the Razorbacks with a 2-under-par 69 and is tied for ninth individually at 5-under-par for the tournament.

Daly bounced back from an early double bogey by birdieing four of his final eight holes.

Erich Fortlage and Gerardo Gomez each shot 1-over-par 72s and are tied for 24th overall at 2-under-par.

Cam Smith also carded a 72 and is tied for 40th, while Thomas Curry shot 73 for the second straight day.

Oklahoma Sooners men’s golf surged into first place after a 19-under-par team round Tuesday and sits at 28-under overall. Purdue is second at 20-under, followed by Oregon State and UCLA.

The top five teams after Wednesday’s final round will advance to the NCAA Championship.
