Izard County authorities have arrested 23-year-old Steven Ashworth on felony drug charges, after he was found naked in an abandoned house. Ashworth’s address was not provided in online court documents.
According to the probable cause affidavit, a sheriff’s deputy made contact with Ashworth at the house Wednesday and reported he could tell he was under the influence of a controlled substance. The location of the house was not listed on the affidavit.
The deputy reported prior to transporting Ashworth to jail, he shook out his pants before giving them to him and nothing fell out of the garment. However, en route to the Izard County Detention Center, Ashworth reportedly began moving around and sticking his hands down behind him.
The deputy reported Ashworth said, “Look at all this dope I found.” The deputy stopped his patrol unit and retrieved a bag containing a glass smoking device, several small plastic baggies and a small glass container. The crystalline substance weighed less than 2 grams and field tested positive for methamphetamine.
The deputy noted in his report he checks his backseat before every shift and after every arrest.
Ashworth has been charged with felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and use or possession with the purpose to use drug paraphernalia.
His bond was set at $10,000.
