A Mountain Home woman who made a down payment on a truck with a hot check and wound up getting the vehicle stuck in a river the next day pled guilty to charges against her during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.Forty-year-old Jamie Krug was sentenced to 36 months probation. She was charged with writing a hot check for a $3,500 down payment on a 2006 pickup truck from a local used car dealer in August last year. She agreed to meet the dealer at a bank a few days later and pay the remaining $2,000 owed, and the dealer would then turn over title to the truck.
She failed to show as promised, and when the victim attempted to run the down payment check through the bank, it bounced.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Krug and others were arrested the day after she made the down payment and were accused of removing a gate and trespassing on private property. It was during this incident the truck ended up stuck in a river. The vehicle had to be towed.
Krug was also ordered to pay $1,500 in restitution.
