Missouri man arrested for murder of Fulton County man

A man from southeast Missouri is behind bars after his arrest for the murder of a man from Fulton County. Police in Thayer say 39-year-old Daniel Carroll of Mammoth Spring was shot to death Tuesday night at a house in Thayer. A man from Poplar Bluff, 25-year-old Kahlil Gregory Omar Smith, was arrested for the shooting.

Police were dispatched to the home on Adams Street at 10:45 Tuesday night for a report of multiple gun shots and a male bleeding. Officers rendered aid but Carroll died at the scene.

Officers from the Thayer Police Department, Oregon County Sheriff’s Office, Doniphan Police Department, Ripley County Sherrif’s Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol conducted the investigation that led to the arrest of Smith. He is being held on charges of murder in the first degree and armed criminal action. His bond is set at $1 million.
