Early voting is underway for May 21 school board elections. In addition, Flippin voters will go to the polls to cast their ballots regarding an increase in the city’s sales tax.

In Baxter County, one school board race developed. In Cotter Kenny Crunkleton and Robert Benedict are seeking the seat now held by Renata Dewey, who did not seek re-election.

There are no contested school board races in Marion County. However, early voting is underway for Flippin voters who are being asked to consider a 1 percent permanent sales tax increase. Funds from the increase would be split evenly between the street department, park improvements, the general fund and the police department.

Early voting is available at the Baxter and Marion County courthouses from 8 until 4:30 through Friday and again on Monday.
