The Kattie Laney Project headlines Friday Night Block Party

This week’s headliner for the Mountain Home Friday Night Block Party is The Kattie Laney Project. Music and activities will begin at 7 on the courthouse square in downtown Mountain Home. The event is free to the public and all are welcome.The Kattie Laney Project is a five-member band from the Twin Lakes Area. KLP is anchored by the soulful vocals of Kattie Laney and plays a wide variety of Billboard’s top hits ranging from the 1960s to present day. If you’re looking for a band that plays Fleetwood Mac, Billy Joel, Aerosmith, Adele, Bruno Mars and more, look no further.

Kattie Laney is lead vocalist. Laney is a lifelong Baxter County resident and loves to give back to her community.

Mike Beam is the group’s bassist. Beam has played a variety of music for over 40 years and has played in a variety of bands.

Bob Harris is the drummer. Harris has played drums and percussion for 30 years.

Paul Marion is guitarist. Marion started playing guitar at the age of 11, but never in a gigging band. He joined The Kattie Laney Project last year.

Dave Fornes plays guitar and keys and provides vocals. Fornes has been involved in music for the last 55 years in one way or another.

Sound engineer for The Kattie Laney Project is Gary Maupin. Over the past 15 years, Maupin has provided sound reinforcement for a wide variety of groups and programs.

This week’s block party is sponsored by Peglar Real Estate Group & Good Impressions Printing.

A number of food vendors will be on hand selling their specialties, including barbecue, tacos, homemade cream soda, cupcakes, funnel cakes, kettle corn and lemonade, and the Baxter County Historical and Genealogical Society will be selling ice cream sundaes.

All attendees will have a chance to win door prizes during the band’s intermission.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs when they come out to enjoy what has become a summer tradition.
