A Marion County man, 22-year-old Jason White of Summit, has been arrested and charged following a traffic accident when his vehicle reportedly traveled into the air, did a complete rotation and came to rest in a ditch along U.S. Highway 62/412 near Pyatt. During a search of the wrecked vehicle, an Arkansas State Police trooper allegedly found two counterfeit $100 bills in the interior roof area.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Thursday, the trooper responded to the accident scene on the evening of July 13, finding the vehicle with significant damage.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as White, told the officer he was reaching for his phone when his SUV left the roadway and crashed.

While conducting the crash investigation, the trooper located a glass smoking pipe behind the wrecked vehicle. White told him the pipe belonged to a friend, however, it was in the vehicle prior to the crash.

A check with the Arkansas Crime Information Center database revealed White had a search waiver on file through Arkansas Community Correction.

During a search of the vehicle, the two $100 bills were located in the area used for holding sunglasses. Both had a color and feel different from most normal forms of currency. One had a serial number identical to a counterfeit $100 bill the trooper seized in Yellville last December. The second bill was also found to be counterfeit.

While White was being booked into the Marion County jail, a small plastic bag containing a clear crystalline substance consistent with methamphetamine was allegedly found in his pocket. Once inside the jail, a more thorough search reportedly led to the discovery of a second plastic bag with a larger amount of a substance consistent with meth inside White’s left sock.

White has been charged with two felony counts of forgery and individual counts of possession of a controlled substance and furnishing prohibited articles. He also faces misdemeanor counts of DWI-drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to maintain control.

His bond was set at $20,000.
