Thursday hoops include OT win at home for MHJH boys

The Mountain Home Junior High basketball teams wrapped up the regular season at home Thursday night by splitting four games against Nettleton.
The Junior Bombers picked up an exciting 38-35 overtime victory. Braiden Dewey led the attack with 11 points, as the Junior Bombers improve to 6-16 on the year.
The Junior Lady Bombers fell to Nettleton 32-18. Lauren Wehmeyer scored nine for Mountain Home, as their season record drops to 11-10.
Mountain Home won the eighth grade girls’ contest 27-24, finishing the season with a record of 8-5.
Nettleton took the eighth grade boys’ game 30-20. The Eighth Grade Bombers end the year with a record of 6-8.
The Mountain Home ninth grade teams begin play in the district tournament at Paragould Saturday. The girls play at 1, with the boys to follow at 2:30.

The Mountain Home Christian Academy and Izard County split a pair of junior high games.
MHCA won the junior boys’ contest 38-31. Jude Everett had 10 points for Izard County.
Izard County took the junior girls’ game 45-30 to improve to 20-6 on the season. Ava Lewis led the scoring with 10 points.

There were a few high school games in the area Thursday night.

In boys’ action:
-Calico Rock lost to Omaha 53-38 to fall to 8-20 on the season.
-Mammoth Spring ran past Koshkonong 69-34. Alex Mero led the balanced attack with 16 points, while Zack Flynn and Cole Young each had 15, as the Bears up their record to 18-12.

In girls’ action:
-Calico Rock was a 49-29 winner over Omaha to improve its record to 13-13.
-Melbourne rolled past Salem 62-35 and is now 24-2 on the season. Salem drops to 9-11.
-Gainesville lost to Hartville 57-44.
-Dora topped Alton 64-57.
-Mammoth Spring needed overtime to defeat Koshkonong 58-55. Lauren Mitchell led the way with 22 points, Shelby VanGinhoven scored 15 and Terra Godwin had 12 for the Lady Bears who improve to 20-6.
