Regional tournaments to continue Thursday

High school basketball makes up the local Thursday schedule, as regional tournaments continue around Arkansas.

The opening round of the Class 2A West Regional Tournament will come to an end at Eureka Springs. Cotter will play a doubleheader against Hector starting with the boys’ game at 5:30, and Yellville-Summit’s boys meet Hackett at 8:30.

The Class 1A Region 2 Tournament resumes at Hillcrest Elementary School in Lynn. On the girls’ side, Western Grove and the host Lady Screamin’ Eagles tip off at 4 p.m., and Norfork faces Maynard at 7. On the boys’ bracket, Viola takes on Ridgefield Christian at 5:30, and Mammoth Spring plays Western Grove at 8:30.

Melbourne’s boys will be in Clarendon for their first game in the Class 2A North Regional Tournament. The Bearkatz will be paired with Earle at 5:30.

Two area teams will play their openers in the Class 3A Region 1 Tournament at Waldron. The Mountain View girls tip off at 4 p.m. against West Fork, and Bergman’s boys meet Charleston at 5:30.

The Rural Special girls will head to Bradford to begin action in the Class 1A Region 3 Tournament. The Lady Rebels face Midland at 7 p.m.

Harrison’s girls will have the first game of the day in the Class 4A North Regional Tournament at Berryville. The Lady Goblins will take on Clarksville at 4.

Both of Jasper’s teams will have their openers in the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament at Alpena. The Lady Pirates will play County Line at 4, and the Jasper boys will be matched up with the Future School of Fort Smith at 8:30.

District play resumes in Missouri, as Forsyth’s boys will compete in the semifinals of the Class 3, District 11 Tournament at Strafford. The Panthers face the host and top-seeded Indians at 6 p.m.
