
High school basketball is scheduled for Friday, as state tournaments throughout Arkansas will conclude their quarterfinal rounds.
Three area teams will play their second games in the Class 1A State Tournament at Lake Hamilton High School in Pearcy. On the girls’ side, Rural Special meets Alpena at 1 p.m., and Viola faces Caddo Hills at 4. Izard County’s boys will take on Bradley at 5:30.
Both of Valley Springs’ teams will take part in the Class 3A State Tournament at Charleston. The Lady Tigers will play Lamar at 4, and the Valley Springs boys will be paired with Osceola at 5:30.
Harrison’s girls will compete in their opening game of the Class 4A State Tournament at Farmington. After having a first-round bye, the Lady Goblins will meet Pulaski Academy in the quarterfinals at 7 p.m.
In Missouri, the West Plains girls are one win away from a state tournament berth, as they play for the championship of the Class 4, District 11 Tournament at Marshfield. The top-seeded Lady Zizzers will face Logan-Rogersville at 6.
