One of the biggest annual events at the Buffalo National River has been called off due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Buffalo National River Partners canceled its free summer concert scheduled for July 18 at the Steel Creek Campground.
The river is in Phase I of Arkansas’ reopening plan for the pandemic, but COVID-19 numbers continue to rise. According to the organization, there’s too much uncertainty for when the second and third phases will begin, and organizers look forward to continuing the concert in 2021.
The Buffalo National River Partners sponsors the concert to educate the public about the group’s mission, volunteer opportunities and support for the river. The group also looks to gain new members and renew present members of the organization.
