A Cotter man appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday facing charges in the fourth criminal case opened on him in the last two years.

The newest drug case to be opened on 32-year-old Edward Everett Call III was filed last month.

Call told Circuit Judge Gordon Webb he wanted to talk to a lawyer before formally entering a plea. A plea of not guilty was entered by the court on Call’s behalf, and he was ordered to reappear June 25 with an attorney.

His latest arrest came when law enforcement officers from several agencies converged on a residence in Cotter earlier in May.

They were looking for Call to serve an outstanding warrant from the Mountain Home Police Department. The officers reported seeing Call’s vehicle parked in the area. They also saw Call come in and out of a house several times to contact different people who were coming and going.

Officers deployed to the front and rear entrances of the home, and one knocked on the door. Call was seen opening a window shade, but he refused to open the door. After one of the officers went to his patrol car to retrieve a “ram” to force entry into the house, Call exited out the back entrance and attempted to flee on foot. After a brief struggle, Call was taken into custody.

According to the probable cause affidavit, officers located marijuana, fentanyl, three different types of pills, Suboxone strips and an unidentified substance that was brown in color in the home.

In addition to six felony drug counts, Call was also charged with misdemeanor counts of obstructing government operations, refusal to submit to arrest and fleeing on foot. His bond in the new case was set at $20,000.

In his earlier cases, Call has been charged with possessing various drugs and paraphernalia to ingest illegal substances, selling drugs to an informant working with police and growing marijuana for sale.

In addition, authorities have seized a vehicle and almost $780 in currency alleged to have been associated with Call’s drug activity.
