A Salesville man has been arrested after he used a broken glass to cut his girlfriend and then choked her. Forty-seven-year-old Mark Walter Frankowitz was arrested early Tuesday morning on two felony charges.
Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says deputies were dispatched to a domestic disturbance in Salesville at 11:40 Monday night. When deputies arrived, they found Frankowitz still in the house, while the female victim was at a neighbor’s house.
During the investigation, it was determined Frankowitz and the victim had gotten into a physical confrontation. It’s alleged the suspect broke a glass and used a piece of it to cut a deep gash into the victim’s arm. Frankowitz then allegedly choked the woman and would not let her leave. The victim was eventually able to escape and ran to the neighbor’s house and called for help.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Baxter Regional Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.
Frankowitz is charged with felony counts of kidnapping and domestic battery in the second degree. His bond is $25,000, and he is scheduled to make his first court appearance on the charges June 25.
Frankowitz has had previous felony convictions. In January 2012, he pled guilty in Baxter County Circuit Court to negotiated charges of terroristic threatening and possession of firearms by a certain person, meaning he is a convicted felon.
