A father and his young son floating on the North Fork of the White River Sunday morning discovered the body of a Howell County man.

The Ozark County Times reports the father and son reportedly spotted an orange shirt under the water about 100 yards downstream of Blue Springs, near the Hammond access on CC Highway southeast of Dora.

Rescue personnel were initially unsure of the victim’s identity. However, Ozark County Sheriff Darrin Reed told the Times Monday the victim has been identified as Norman Robinson of Pomona. Reed estimated Robinson’s age as 79 or 80.

Reed says officers have found nothing to indicate foul play at the scene. But, he says the investigation remains open, and officers were still reviewing all the evidence earlier this week.
