Very few races develop as filing period closes for municipal seats

The annual filing period for municipal positions closed quietly Wednesday at noon with a limited number of races developing in Baxter, Marion and Fulton counties.

Scott Sillence was the only candidate to file Wednesday in Baxter County, as he seeks reelection to his Ward 1, Position 2 seat on the Salesville City Council.

Baxter County will see just one contested race as Rex “Lynn” Anderson and Nick Reed will vie for the Ward 4, Position 2 seat on the Mountain Home City County Council.

In Marion County, one race developed when incumbent William Stahlman filed for Ward 3, Position 2 on the Bull Shoals City Council. Stahlman will face challenger Roy G. Bull in the General Election on Nov. 3.

Other new filings in Marion County include: Elizabeth Johnson, recorder, City of Flippin; Tim McEwen, Ward 2, Position 2, Flippin City Council; Sherry McFarland, recorder/treasurer; City of Summit; and Layton Lee, Ward 1, Position 1; Vickie Fogerty, Ward 1, Position 2; Ken Rigmaiden, Ward 2, Position 1; Lorna Goodwin, Ward 2, Position 2; Summer Kerwood, Ward 3, Position 1; Kevin Goulet; Ward 3, Position 2; and Recorder/Treasurer Melissa Dorsey; all of whom serve as incumbents in the City of Yellville.

In Fulton County, incumbents Dennis Harber and Jerry Allen each filed to retain their respective seats on the Viola City Council. Just one race developed in the county, as Wilma Rogers filed to face incumbent M. June Grant for the position of recorder/treasurer in the City of Mammoth Spring.
