Yellville-Summit falls at Bigelow; Salem loses at Melbourne

The Yellville-Summit High School team had another rough night Friday playing its first road game of conference play. It was a battle between Panthers, as Yellville-Summit fell to Bigelow 47-21. Yellville-Summit drops to 1-4 on the season and 0-2 in the 2A-4 and will host Quitman next week.

Salem went to Melbourne and suffered its first conference loss. The Greyhounds were defeated by the Bearkatz 41-22. Salem falls to 3-2 on the year and 1-1 in the 3A-2 and will step out of league action next Friday hosting East Poinsett County. Melbourne improves to 4-1 and 1-1, and its next game will be in two weeks at Searcy against Riverview.

Mountain View took a lead over the top-ranked team in Class 3A early on, but it didn’t last. The Yellowjackets lost to Harding Academy 49-22. Mountain View is now 4-2 overall and 0-1 in the 3A-2 and will travel to Newport next week.

Harrison was able to invoke the mercy rule in its first conference game of the season. The Goblins, ranked fifth in Class 5A by the Arkansas Sports Media, routed Alma by a final of 42-6. Harrison improves to 4-1 on the season and 1-0 in the 5A-West and will head to Greenbrier next Friday.
