Chasity H. Metcalf

A Bull Shoals woman faces felony charges for allegedly posing as a “legal assistant,” and taking money from a 73-year-old woman, but doing little of the work promised.

Forty-four-year-old Chasity Metcalf appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday and told the court she was still looking for an attorney to represent her. In an earlier court appearance, Metcalf said she planned to hire an attorney to be lead council in her case, another attorney as co-council, and an investigator.

In December 2018, according to the probable cause affidavit, Metcalf arranged to do work on legal documents dealing with wills and property for the elderly woman.

She was also to purchase a safe in which to store the updated paperwork.

In April 2019, Metcalf is alleged to have delivered a small safe and the paperwork to the woman.

It is alleged that when the documents were checked, none had been updated.

Investigators estimated the cost of the small safe at $100 meaning the victim was out $1,100.

Metcalf was contacted and asked to come in and speak with investigators. She is reported to have agreed and set a date for the meeting. She was a no show.

Metcalf is also in trouble in Izard County for allegedly setting two cars on fire and pulling a gun on a man.

In early October last year, a male residence of a home along Harris Street in Pineville said he heard dog barking and then heard a loud boom and saw a flash from a fire.

The man left the residence and saw someone running from the scene. He caught up with the person and recognized her as Metcalf.

As he grabbed for Metcalf, she is alleged to have pulled a black pistol, stuck it in the man’s face and cocked the hammer back.

The man said he threw up his hands and began to walk back to the burning vehicles to try and extinguish the blaze.

Investigators reported locating a gas jug at the end of the driveway and a lighter fluid bottle under one of the vehicles.

Metcalf is charged with two counts of arson and aggravated assault in the Izard County case.

She is due to appear for arraignment in Izard County Circuit Court on July 21.
