
The Mountain Home High School and Junior High cross country teams had another good day on the course Tuesday at the Joe Bill Dixon Zizzers Invitational in West Plains.
In the varsity boys’ race, Mountain Home edged the host Zizzers 26-30 by placing five runners in the top 10. Andrew Westphal won the race with Ky Bickford second. Anderson Hodges finished seventh, Hendrix Hughes was ninth and Ty Lawrence finished tenth.
In the varsity girls’ race, Mountain Home finished second behind West Plains. Jordan Ritenburg was fourth for Mountain Home and Rylee Patterson was fifth. Five other Lady Bombers finished in the top 15 including Erin Smith who was 11th, Whitney Wilber who finished 12th, Bailey Ritenburg was 13th, Cayla McMaster finished 14th and Britney Jenkins was 15th.
The Junior Bombers claimed the team victory, edging out Howell Valley by two points. Trenton Smith led the way with a second place finish, Gus Wilber was fifth, Garrett Barr was ninth, Caiden Kaspar finished 12th and Levi Payne was 16th.
Mountain Home finished third in the junior girls’ race. Jayla Yonkers paced Mountain Home with a third place finish. She was followed by Lucy Koehn who was 15th, Cicely Goettler in 16th place, Mary McConnel was 19th and Haley Kotlicky finished 20th.
In the junior varsity boys’ race, Mountain Home finished first. Zane Darracq finished second, followed by Connor King, Eli Lane, Canon Matlock and Zach Daugherty all in the top ten.
In the junior varsity girls’ race, Moiuntain Home’s Monica Chafin claimed the individual victory.
The Bombers Cross Country teams will compete again next week at both the Salem Invitational and the Frank Horton Twilight Invitation in Memphis.
